The famous American film director Steven Spielberg shot Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the third film in the series, in the area around the Chiesa della Salute in 1989, having obtained permission to block all pedestrian access to the area in order to shoot certain spectacular scenes. The protagonist, Indy, played by Harrison Ford, sets off for Venice, the city where his father has disappeared mysteriously, in search of the tomb of an old crusader.
